*Based on price and features. We do not believe most amature photographers will use the HD video capability as there is much more post shoot editing required to put together a reasonable video that others will want to watch, compared to sharing prints run off on you home printer, directly from your camera. It's just less bother to plug your camera into a printer and run off 20-30 4x6 prints to show to friends then it is to spend hours editing a mini-video.

If a user is going to shoot video and get involved with the time consuming task of editing an hour of video down to a watchable 10 minutes, they are better off purchasing a dedicated video camcorder with a still photo capability like the Canon Vixia HF-20 at the same price point ($799.99).  With a camcorder of this type, they can shoot stills while shooting video and run off the 4x6 prints. They then can use the stills as a slide show or stitch them into their video presentation.   I don't see the still/video camera a broadly used feature for the amature, but it does have its possible calling for the professional spot news photographer.
